PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The HSE Advisor shall act as a driving force regarding HSE within the organisation. The HSE advisor shall interact and work closely with the offshore rig teams, visit the rigs frequently and thereby support and challenge the rig organisations. Building a robust HSE culture on the rigs is the key purposes of this role
RESPONSIBILITIES
General on Assignments and Communication.
The HSE Advisor may be assigned to specific rig(s) and will be assigned responsibility towards specific tasks within the HSE area (e.g. Investigation, barrier management, drops). Such assignments may vary over time, depending on rigs in operation, Client situation, special needs etc.
HSE Advisor communication, interaction and coordination tasks shall include the Rig Managers, the offshore organisations, Head office, clients, authorities and Classification Society (via internal contact person) and any external support units / organisations (e.g. Adept, ISOS).
Specific Responsibilities and Duties
- Visit the rigs frequently, and establish good relations with section leaders, safety officers, safety delegates and the crew in general
- Have overview and understanding of applicable procedures, including all relevant applications, relevant regulations and contractual requirements
- Participate in pre-departure meetings
- Establish and maintain good relations with internal and external customers – and with relevant authorities
- Plan, perform and follow up internal and external audits
- Advice and support in connection with HSE incidents, and perform investigations
- Advice and support wrt. Hse in modification projects
- Contribute to experience transfer and improvement processes
- Perform Emergency Preparedness Tasks as per emergency duty plans
- Facilitate / lead HAZIDs, HAZOPs as required
- Other tasks as delegated
AUTHORITY/DIMENSIONS
- Operate within key principles for business conduct
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Education
- Higher education within QHSSE / technical / maritime
- Relevant experience from the petroleum industry / QHSSE related experience
- Extensive QHSSE related experience from the petroleum industry may compensate for lack of formal higher education
Skills
- Overall understanding of the contact drilling industry
- Having an interest for the offshore operation and willingness to become involved
- Proactive, systematic, structured and organised mind-set
- Strong team player, but have the ability to work independently.
- Good communication skills and ability to “networking”
